About the Role As a Risk Underwriter within our Credit & Surety (TCI) team at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, you will be a trusted Trade Credit business partner to assigned intermediaries and policyholders. You will take ownership of underwriting, monitoring, and reviewing Trade Credit risk across a portfolio of clients — all within clearly defined underwriting guidelines. Reporting to the Regional Risk Underwriting Manager, this is a role where your decisions matter, your expertise is valued, and your impact is real.
Key Responsibilities Design and execute risk strategies to assess and monitor credit risk across diverse portfolios and trade sectors Underwrite Trade Credit risk in accordance with organisational policy and underwriting standards Monitor and review client portfolios, identifying emerging risks and taking timely action to optimise portfolio performance Build and maintain relationships with policyholders, brokers, and intermediaries to drive shared business outcomes Contribute to continuous improvement across underwriting processes and practices Ensure full compliance across all underwriting activities in line with business and regulatory requirements.
About the Team You will be joining the Credit & Surety (TCI) team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions — a high performing, collaborative group of specialists committed to delivering sophisticated trade credit insurance solutions to clients across a broad range of industries and trade sectors. The team partners closely with brokers, intermediaries, and policyholders to assess and manage credit risk with precision, combining deep technical expertise with a client-centric philosophy. In doing so, the team plays an integral role in enabling businesses to navigate financial complexity, protect their receivables, and pursue growth with confidence.
About You You are a commercially minded risk professional with developing analytical capability and a disciplined approach to financial risk assessment. You work effectively both independently and collaboratively, communicate with clarity, and build professional relationships grounded in credibility and trust.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- A financial or accounting foundation, complemented by demonstrated experience in credit and financial risk analysis — with the capability to interrogate financial data and render sound, well-reasoned underwriting decisions.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a developing track record of working systematically through intricate matters, drawing meaningful conclusions, and positively influencing outcomes.
- Proven stakeholder engagement capabilities, with experience navigating relationships with brokers, intermediaries, or external clients in a professional and commercially sensitive context.
These are additional nice to haves :
- Familiarity with the insurance or banking/lending industries, including an understanding of trade credit products, credit insurance structures, or lending frameworks — considered a significant advantage.
- Prior experience in underwriting, credit assessment, or risk management within a financial services, insurance, or corporate environment.
- A proactive, outcomes-driven work ethic, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively and deliver results with a high degree of autonomy.
- Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks applicable to the insurance or financial services sector in Australia
